Nan Mckay Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Specialist Practice Exam

The correct choice reflects that a Public Housing Agency (PHA) can permit only one move during a single year period. This limitation is established to promote stability and ensure that families have a reliable living situation, which is vital for maintaining community ties, ensuring that children can remain in stable schooling environments, and allowing for sensible resource allocation by the PHA.

If a family were allowed to move without restrictions, it could lead to instability for the family as well as administrative challenges for the PHA. By allowing only a single move within a year, the PHA aims to balance the needs of families for flexibility with the necessity for consistent support and oversight in housing situations. This policy ensures that appropriate checks and measures are in place while still allowing families some degree of freedom to choose a living situation that best meets their needs, subject to established guidelines.
